Washing new sand

I will be moving to my new house in two weeks where I will have my own man cave to do all my tank chemistry and have qt now. I'm moving from a 55 gallon to a 90 and will be getting new sand. I have found a couple things of how to rinse it. I will not be using live sand as it doesn't seem to make a difference using live vs new. The sand I have now had been in the same tank for 2 years. Is there anything I have read over for benefit of reusing my well established sand? PThe only ways I have seen to clean sand is by using a garden hose to push all the dust and ect out of the sand. Is this right as it is obviously not clean water and I am worried about it chloramine sticking to my sand and crashing an established tank... Any suggestions for something better or am I just being too cautious.

+1, I've done this several times without issue. Use new dry sand and wash it with tap water, then a final RO/DI flush although I suspect that it isn't really necessary to make the final RO/DI rinse; there just isn't going to be enough tap water to effect the main tank.

Rinse, rinse, and rinse again using a garden hose and a 5 gal pail till the water runs clear. No final ro/di water rinse, I just spread it out on a towel and let it dry.

Awesome! Just wanted to make sure that was what everyone on here did. Thanks for the help
