is there anything that i need to be aware of when using the bad water that usually goes down the drain.. i'm thinking of using that water in the washer. any problems that you know of?

If your source water to the RO is normal untreated tap water (no softener), the reject water can be high in dissolved carbonates and hardness factors. I used to give mine to the kid across the street for water changes in his African cichlid tank and they loved i.

Laundry here, too. Also, house plants. Watering trees and shrubs, etc. in season. My fresh water tanks are planted, so I use it for them as well. My line is dripping into the washer right now as a matter of fact.

Sorry for being a bit slow - but laundry? How does that work? Do you turn off the water going to the washing machine? Never thought about using the waste water - watering trees and plants is a great idea.

Just empty your waste line into the washing machine and pull out when full, You would not belive how much water your washing machine uses. It takes about 2.5 hrs for mine to fill up on waste water for a large load.
