Watchman and pistol pair

I just got a neat goby a couple weeks ago, white with blue spots and fins. he is shacked up with a nice pistol shrimp. The are fun to watch, but I cant believe how many holes they are digging.i figured a few holes and that would be it, I am very glad I have all the rock on plastic grating(although I am still worried about something shifting
Do these guys ever settle down? Or is this how they operate?
Also the goby does not seem to try and eat with the clowns, very little food gets down to him, do I have to do something special?

mine are constantly digging around and shifting sand back and forth. I broadcast feed and my goby stays down near his hole and just darts out to grab a piece and back in, repeatedly. I never do anything special and it's been about a year.

I thought my watchman/pistol were diggers until I got 5 zebra dartfish. They dig huge holes under every single rock. Can't wait for a collapse. Hopefully I buried base deep enough in sand.
