Watchman Goby

Hey,

Noticed the yellow watchman gobies at the lfs swam more in the water column than what I normally expect out of a goby. Do these fish venture out more than I think? Also -- do these fish readily eat prepared food?

Thanks!

Mine eats anything that goes into the tank. It almost never swims in the water column, but will skim along the bottom of the tank during feeding time to snag stuff. for the most part, it'll stay on the bottom of the tank, just change locations every now and then.

Yes, fish in a holding tank at the LFS will often have odd behaviors. Mine does the same as Jerry's. It comes out to eat and occasionally hovers with its mouth open to defend its territory, but other than that, it stays on the bottom.

mine stays at the bottom with his head sticking out of the holes the pistol shrimp has made. but he will come out at feeding time or when the pistol dozers some sound out of the hole.

My YWG was a pretty active swimmer for about the first 2 weeks he was in my tank until he met up with his pistol. Since then he hasn't really ventured more than about 6 inches from the den entrance.
