i just got a watchman goby. (not sure what kind blue spots on him)

i have to say i love this big guy. he eats like a pig, such personality. everytime i feed the tank he is looking at me starring me down. when i feed the corals with the turkey baster he attacks it trying to get food.

only thing is my doty back hides more now, is he the reason or is it just chance.

also has anyone added the shrimp after the watchman already been in the tank will they find each other

I've had a watchman now for about three weeks. He use to be out and about although not much of a swimmer. Unfortunately now I hardly ever see him except during feeding. He's the only fish in the tank so he's not being harassed.

Mine is great I got him small now full grown now has a multi cave patters under his rock connecting and he's always out that little bastid actually on feeding time Swims up halfway up the tank

I bought a yellow watchman goby (yellow with blue spots which sounds like what you have). He's super fun to watch, but after I started adding more fish, I only see him out when I'm feeding.

I believe if you get a shrimp and place it near the goby's home, they'll find each other. I bought a shrimp for my goby but he died after a few days and he hasn't been replaced.

My 'grumpy fish' (<-------) is one of my favorite characters, and it's a tie between him and the Valentini that my wife named Petey as to who is her favorite.

No my goby has red spots all over his body with blue spots on his face. He is really big and I have a lot of other fish in the tank doesn't seem to bother him at all. He will even swim up the tank when I feed. I feed him a lot too. I seen him tank shrimp chopped up he sometimes takes the whole thing it's funny I am like he isn't going to fit that in his nouth

Lol@ "grumpy fish"

Do you have a lid? I liked mine a lot until he jumped. I thought it would be ok without one because they stay on the bottom, but that's only when they are happy. When they get spooked, especially in a new tank, theyll hop right out of the the water or down your overflow.

I really liked mine.

Moved him from QT to the display last weekend. Seen him once since then. I'm sure he's alive and happy, but a tiny 3" gobi in a 6' long tank, I can only assume. Too many hiding places. :lmao:

Hasn't started to make appearances while feeding.

Yes I have a lid on my tank. When my 200 clownfish jumped out after the lfs guy said they aren't jumpers I made a lid I am way to cheap to be losing fish that way

Yes it is a pink spot. He hide for first 2 days and now he is a monster. Not shy at all. But my tank has a lot of rock In it. I have 85 lbs in a 57 gallon

thanks for the info i know it already, so you can take care of your fish ill take care of mine.

dont gibe me its cruel. 70 percent of fish die before they even reach the pet shops in America. so every fish you have many many many many more had to die before you got it. so if your so against cruelty to fish, stop buying wild caught fish

Enter the tang police. If you look at his picture, the tang clearly isn't full grown. A 2 to 3 inch tang is fine in that tank. Will it outgrow it? Absolutely. But for now it's fine in there imho.

You know you're posting in the "New to the Hobby" message boards, right? Your tank looks awful and it has a drastically misplaced fish in it. Sorry for assuming you aren't an expert.
