water change delema

So I have a mag 9 pump that I bought 1" tubing for. Did my first water change last night and removing water was fast and easy. But when I went to replace with new water the giving line kept shooting off the pump, there's not much pump for the hose to sit on so u was looking for ideas to rig up so the house would stop coming off, second issue was when I was done with all new water and turned off pump. . there is slot of water left in vinyl tubing. .. what's ur methods? Thx all

Do you have a clamp on the hose? You could try that, or maybe attach a longer barb to the pump.

I have a ball valve at the end of my hose so I don't have to worry about spillage.
