water change in QT?

I have 2 small ocellaris clowns in my QT tank now. How often should I do water changes, and how much water should I change at a time?

With respects to the QT. Dod you keep that up all the time even when there are not fish? What typ of filtration do you put in it? LR? LS?

Thanks,
Peter

Use some filter media or filter sponge that's been in your main tank for awhile -- put it in a powerfilter or cannister filter to establish a biofilter in the QT. Use PVC pipe/fittings to provide your QT fish with shelter and hiding places. Don't use LR. If you have to medicate, it'll ruin the LR. Keep an eye on ammonia/nitrites/nitrates. Do water changes frequently, and step them up if ammonia is elevated.
You should not have to leave your QT set up for months on end with nothing in it. By keeping a little filter media in your main tank, you should be able to set up your QT very quickly when needed

By doing water changes frequently how often is frequently, and how much should i change on my 10 gallon? Right now I have a aquaclear 50 running with some pvc and a small powerhead. The sponge from the filter was sitting in my sump for awhile.

Sounds great! The "10% twice a week" suggestion is pretty good I think... more frequently and more water if ammonia is elevated. FWIW, I wouldn't worry too much about slightly elevated nitrite or nitrate in a saltwater QT, but elevated ammonia needs quick attention.
