Water change question

When you change water at your house do you drain the water to a floor drain? If the water I am draining has hair algae clumps and some sand in it am I running the risk of clogging my sewer lateral line? I have always drained to buckets and tossed them where I don't want anything to grow outside.

Right down the sink... Your sewer lateral should handle things much larger than your siphoning out of your tank.

Congrats on getting married. I went from the skimmer side of my sump, bulkhead on bottom, to ball valve to house stack drain line! All pvc. Increment marks on the sump, for every five gallons from five to thirty, allow me to drain just the right amount every time. So flip a valve to drain and flip a valve to fill, all along the system is still running!

No more packing buckets for me!

+1 to following with fresh water. You don't want the salt to sit and corrode any metal plumbing it may come acroos
