Water Change Schedule

I do 35 gallon changes twice a week and I can tell when I miss.

Sorry, I should have told the size. I t is a 600 gallon tank with a 200 gallon sump.

I have found that there are always exceptions to every rule. For every person that can get away with WC's every 6mos, there are probably a hundred that would fail miserably. I used to go several months between changes. Although things lived, I wouldn't say they thrived.

I do 8-10% per week.

I want to do 20% water changes a week, but with Reef Crystals, it spikes my Alk too much. I'm doing 10% weekly now. Zeo and other bacterial systems recommend weekly water changes to keep ionic concentrations solid. I know zeolites do bind certain trace elements, though, so that may be why.

I do what changes whenever I get around to them, probably every month or two now. If I had more time I guess I would do them every month, on a set schedule, around 20%.

I dose vodka and mb7 (based on the experience of SunnyX, who previously posted) so I basically only use WC's to replenish trace elements that I cannot dose myself. I do 5G every couple weeks.

+1 but mine tank is only 50gal.

+1 I'm with these guys, but more like 14gal wc on 100gal sys every so often...
Oh and i do a small (2gal wc) when every i buy livestock to make up for water used during acclimation, dip, etc.

Ideally i suppose 14gallons once a month would be my goal.

I do about 15 gallons every two to three weeks. I used to do weekly, but the price of salt was killing me. I really have not seen any difference though.

On my sps tanks, i do 100% every other week on the nano (15 gallon) and 25% every other week on the 120. The nano grows sticks better than my prop system lol....
