I am having a water issue and need to do a water change. I usually do 10% but today I will do 20%. This means that my water level will drop down below the rocks and some corals will be in the air for 10 minutes or so while I empty and refil the tank.
i usually change the water outta the sump so the corals stay wet.... i also use an old pump i have laying around to both pump the water out and back in which makes it go smoother and faster

For the 10 min your corals will be out of the water I don't forsee any problems, just try not to keep them out any longer than that. Imagine how the corals on a reef with incoming and outgoing tides deal with being out of the water for hours at a time.
The corals will be fine out of the water. I have left some of my acros out of water for closae to 1/2 hour and I have not lost any pieces. I usually do my water changes under the tank through the sump but if you are unable to do so then out of the display is fine as well.
Keep up with the H2O changes to get everything in good blance again!!!

Dittto on exposing the corals... (er, uh, not exposing YOURSELF to the corals!) but one thing I do is just splash the corals with water every couple of minutes.
I do a 50 gal water change pretty often because I have a nitrate factory and some corals stay out of water for several minutes without any problem. I do it with my lights off so I don't burn them.
wouldnt it depend what type of corals were talking about outta the water? or does it not matter anything can be outta the water without damgae for 5-10 mins??
