Water changes and lugging water around...

My RODI is also in the basement. I carry 5 gallon buckets upstairs (two flights, it's a deep basement with high ceilings) for a 30 gallon a week water change on my 210 gallon display tank. I also carry about 10 gallons a week for topoff.

It doesn't bother me enough to plumb a pump system or ask for help. And I'm 70 years old.

The salt is stored downstairs and carried upstairs for mixing. Initially the box is heavy but it gets lighter until I open another container.

I have a 210... don't know your house layout to give ideas. Here's what I do:
*I have my RODI unit in my garage... I run a long line to my pool for the "waste water" (Live in TX so a good way to utilize the waste water :-) ) , while I fill up my 5 gal containers with RODI water.
*Bring in 5 gal containers to my kitchen (where my tank is set up)
*Fill up one Brute trash can with water.... make my salt water
*siphon water from tank into another brute trash can with wheels.
*Put mag 12 with hose into new saltwater and pour into system
* wheel out old water to door going to garage put mag 12 into bucket and drain onto driveway.... why not just roll it out??? I have steps from my garage to house. I can't lift 30+ gallons of water. ;-)

for RODI fresh water top off... I have an ATO and a 10 gal bucket next to sump and fill up when low.

so I do lug 5 gal buckets but it's only about 20 feet from my garage. I guess I can just get a long enough hose to connect my mag 12 from the garage to my tank to fill up... I guess I'm just to lazy to buy a longer hose

I use to have a 55 gal and went to a 210.... get ready for a sticker shock at first on buying more lighting, skimmer, pumps etc.

good luck

well, i ended up buying a 150g 72x24x20h lee mar tank with single overflow in the center. the stand height is 38" which i love. you can just stand in front and not really have to bend down to view the tank. got it with lights, skimmer, chiller, vortechs for a great price so i'm pretty happy and i don't need to go out and get all that stuff for a 300gallon...then i definitely would have had sticker shock...well my wife sure would have...lol

pugadawg...thanks for sharing the way you change/top off water. i'll probably be doing something similar to that.
