Water Changes

Hi Guys,

Just wondered how often and how long you take to do water changes on your mantis tank?

Is it a slightly hardier than other inverts type or just as sensitive? I currently take 24 hours or so to replace 20% of the water...... Does this seem ok?

I admit it, I slack...

I usually change out 20% or so every week-10 days.
All in one go, really, which I am sure is a bit of a shock.
Temp is pretty much 70-75 degrees or so in my bedroom (where my tanks are), so it doesn't take too long to get the temp up to par.

My other livestock is mostly as follows, none of which seem to be affected in a detrimental manner;
Mushroom corals, several types.
Small sponges,anemones and feather duster worms.

A veritable armada of copepods,amphipods and other wierd looking 'pods'. They are too small for the mantis to go after in most of my tanks (The N. Wenn eats them, though...), so they breed like mad, with nothing eating them.(When finally get a Psychadelic Mandarin, it will be one happy little fish, with all of the transplanted pods...in a mantis free tank, of course).

Hermits,snails and fireworms etc...

Purple Tipped Anemones, which don't seem bothered either.

Hope that helped,

I have a 4.5'' peacock in an eclipse 12 who seems to be living life to the fullest. I've gotten into the habit of throwing live stuff in there for her to kill at her leisure now, but I have gone 3+ weeks at a time without changing the water. At the same time though, there are several different corals and algaes in the tank that help keep the water pretty decent, and she eats at her own pace, so I am not overfeeding her at all...
