Water Depth/Vertex IN80 Skimmer?

Trying to find some info. on what is the best water depth for the vertex in80 skimmer. I have read some time back that 6-8 inches will do it. But I would like to know a little more info. on this?

I run mine at 7" with no problems

yeah 7" is good too. I like to run skimmers as low as I can for the best adjustment of the bubble column.
