Water Flow and SPS

Hi all,

I am trying my hand at SPS for the first time and just wanted to know what the best way to gauge what is the ideal flow for SPS?

I am using a Ecotech MP40 on my 16Gal right now and am trying to figure out optimum settings for it. The tank also has a 200GPH return pump in the sump with two outflows in the tank.

Yes, there is a typo, I am running an MP10, not an MP40. The tank is 16 gal.

long pulse is nice and creates a decent under tow. I have 2 of them in my 20g. so they alternate back and forth. Pretty close to mother nature herself. and you get some good random chaotic flow as well.
Reef crest is a good option as well.
you don't want to blast the coral just a nice back and forth to take nutrients to and away from the corals.

I also switch up the modes once a day. usually nutrient export mode, or turn the pump up a bit higher for an hour or so.

I would do reef crest at a lower setting for a 16g tank.
