water flow with mp40s

Depends on what you want. MP40's can be tuned to how you want your tank to look. 99% of the time you just have to mess with the flow until you like it and the corals are happy with it. Don't forget to give the corals time to adjust to the new flow; if its quite different. Remember too that MP40's are powerful and will blow some of your corals around if you arn't careful! Goodluck!

Personally, two MP40s for an LPS dominated 125g is extreme overkill. I have two MP10s on my 90g and with the return pump, they are both barely half way. Anything more and my corals and nems head for cover.

Completely disagree, if you get the WES they communicate with each other, run them on a lower percentage, and if you ever want to throw in some SPS, raise them to the top of the glass and turn it up a bit. I think two MP40's give you the most options.

Agreed. You will get the most options out of two MP40s. But if you look at the basics, you will see why I am calling it overkill.
Assuming 20x-30x turnover for LPS..
- The MP40 WES retails for $465. Each one maxes out at 3200 GPH according to the manufactures specs. Two of them at half speed is roughly 25 times the turnover you will get in a tank that size.
- The MP10 WES retails for $285. Each one maxes out at 1575 GPH according to the manufacturers specs. Two of them maxed out is also roughly 25 times the turnover you will get in a tank that size.
So why spend $930 for two MP40s when you can spend half that on two MP10s and achieve minimally, the same balance at max output. Sure, driving down the pumps to their minimum speeds (200 gph MP10 and 1000 gph MP40) are different, but I doubt an actual reef is always pushing 2000 gph over it. And with the WES setup, each will play off one another in a push/pull format and drive mostly 3200 GPH regardless.
If you do the math, the OP isn't even running them past 1500 GPH anyway. Why purchase a Ferrari when you are only going to drive it 55 MPH
