water level

i'm trying to figure out how high to put an internal overflow in a 6ft long tank. does about an inch below the top of the tank sound right? (the tank is 24 in high.)

are you planning on any wave makers ? if so, need more than 1"

also think about when overflow teeth get clogged, gotta leave some room on top before tank overflows.

lastly when cleaning glass ... dont want water splashing out.

Same tank as yours. Almost Coast to Coast internal overflow. Top of glass is even with the bottom of the Trim. So almost and inch. Seems to be perfect so far.

Putting my hands in or adding rocks and what not just causes extra water to go into the overflow box and down into the sump (the water level in the overflow box is MUCH lower than in the tank. Like 4" lower)

My build thread is here: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2379295
There are pics of the overflow box
