Water Movement/Circulation Advice

Folks,

I have a 4 week old reef tank and I'm looking for suggestions as to what Tunze equipment would be ideal for my tank. The tank is a 54g AGA Corner model. I currently have a few old powerheads I'm using, but would like to upgrade to better gear. I've heard great things about Tunze (except the price :) ) and like the ability to electronically control things.

Any suggestions as to what models, and where to place them in the tank is appreciated.

Thanks,
L3

What type of corals do you keep? How fine of a sand do you use?

Hi,

No corals yet, but that's definitely in the plan as the tank matures a little more. I have a 3" DSB made up of live sand (Carib Sea Argonite).

Thanks,
L3

Well, without knowing the coral types you will keep it is a bit harder to make a recommendation. A single 6000 and a 7091 controller would work provided no Euphyllias or soft corals (leathers would be OK) are planned.

Tagging along here, as this is basically the same size tank I have. Sounds like a couple of the nano streams would be perfect. I'm still undecided between 2 of the 6025 and 6045. My tank is an SPS tank with a southdown bed. I currently have a 1000 gph return pump (dialed back a little to reduce microbubbles) and 2 maxijets. On another thread you suggested the 6045s, but I'm still concerned that 2 of them would blast sand everywhere.

I pre ordered a pair of each today, thinking demand will be high enough so that I could sell the ones I don't use. Looking at my tank, a good easy way to picture it would be to imagine a tank about the size of a 40 breeder, with a good strong return pump. Still think 2 of the 6045s are the best choice for me?

I think two 6045 or 2 6055 would be fine, the 6055 are controllable which is a great advantage. Provided you can wait those are also options.
