Water primeters

Well I'm going to give waverz a call and hopefully he can test it and see what his test say. I sure hope that I just got a bad test kit. I just think its funny the first few times I tested my water with this kit everything came out good. So maybe it is the kit.

Now that I think about it I had been getting my RO water from Pet's Playhouse in Cedar Rapids. But I couldn't make it down there last week so I got some RO from Emporium. So could it be the change in RO water?

Well looks like the emporium is now selling tap water for 45 cents a gallon....i tested it, and the alk was indeed 15+. The TDS was 165ppm. Totally rediculous and un professional. Man i hate that place.

LOL you HAVE to expect GREATNESS from them, with so many QUALIFIED emploeteers I can't see them getting anything wrong

Well i let Monty borrow my TDS meter so he can take it down there, hopefully he can atleast get his money back.

DAMN,DAMN, I can not belive I bought water from there I should have known better. I can't belive I paid 45 cents a gallon for straght tap water.:furious:

I would hate to think how many poor souls are going there buying water or anything saltwater at that. Not only are they selling tap water as RO but all of their stuff is over priced.

I will never every buy anything from that place agian. I'm going up there this weekend to talk to them about this little ordeal and I'm going to test the water right in front of them just to show them that their RO water is SUCKS. I think they should refund me my money on the water.

Sence its the water making my dKH high can I keep on using my Nano Reef Suppliments? I willl have to get some real RO water this weekend and do a good water change. Then next week I will start doseing agian.

:furious: :furious: :furious: EMPORIUM:furious: :furious: :furious:

Hay Lee how about we reschdule my visit till next week. I heard the weather is going to get nasty agian Wensday and Thursday.

I still want to get some zoa frags from ya.:D

I would but im scared of losing my @ss....

There seems to be a pretty good trend with LFS's around here only lasting a little while. But i do think that if you had a good location and a clean shop with good products you would have a shot. Hmmm almost makes me want to do up another business plan.....

;)

Yes but I havent seen a LFS in this town that was managed correctly. There is a big difference in loving corals & fish & running a business.

Very true....

165ppm sounds like a dead RO. Not straight tap unless the W-loo water is that soft.

"Owning a LFS":To me Hung at SOM is the prototype. LFS stores can't compete with mailorder and the big chains for dry goods but if you carry good pretty healthy livestock someone will always buy it.

That and service contracts and you can make a living, not that I haven't thought about it or anything.;)

IC/coralville is much smaller than the QC but supports 2 LFS that are better than anything we have here.

The bad part about owning a LFS is the overhead, it's to hard to get everything people are going to buy or want to buy. It's like a game of russian rolette, you either have it or you don't. Even online stores have some things you like but others you don't, some people will settle for a less supurb product just so they can order from the same place. Most of the more advanced aquarists would rather pay more shipping costs than to take the cheaper product. I could see a LFS making it if it was run out of a garage or a shop for a few years before moving to a larger location. It would be cheaper start up, cheaper overhead, and it would give a larger amount of time to advertise and gain trust. Not that I have thought about it or anything :-)

Our straight tab runs around 300+, so it was partially filtered, no way should be sold as RO though.
