hello everybody.
for school in physics class i am designing a water propelled rocket. is anyone familar w/ this? water rockets are another very large and interesting topic. but anyways i need some help because i am a little bit confused about its construction

im following a modified construction of Ian clark's cable-tie release mechanism. and here in lies the problem. i'm trying to build the part that would seal the the bottle to allow proper presurization and i don't know wht CPVC is.

so wht is CPVC and where can i get it? i was at HD and i asked the dude and he said CPVC is just PVC. but i think its a little different.

Theres a magazine called Make:. Vol 5 has a nice detailed article on how to make a high-powered water rocket out of 2 litre bottles based on the Martinet Launcher. Check out the design here:

have fun and dont hurt yourself.
if you make one, take pics and post em. I wanna see.

No.
I dont watch enough tv to warrant paying for cable. I cant even use an antenna since I'm close to some hills which block reception. Been without tv (programming) for 4+ years now. I do miss Mythbusters, though. That was one of the few shows I enjoyed.
Now, I just use my TV for movies and videogames.

I can assume that whatever you will build with CPVC can also be buit with regular PVC, just check the pressure ratings.

Did you catch the Mythbuster episode when they built water rockets??

Ha! Somehow I knew I wouldn't be the only one.

thanks alot guys! i saw that show of mythbusters! see wht my project is that we have to design a freelab project that would prove any kind of physics. i couldn't really think of a good one until the mythbusters episode came to mind. so that's why i'm doing this...and its fun!

i'm gonna stop by OSH today and check em out.
