I'm interested in buying one too, but haven't heard many reviews. I looked on marinedepot and theyre selling the 3000 for 67.99.....and fishsupply (seaside) is selling that same pump for 59.99
Used one for 1-2 years and had no problems with it. The shaft inside the pump is made of ceramic and does not rust. Just be careful to not drop the shaft because it will break.
Some people report issues with the pumps in older threads but I dont remember exactly what it was... Lots of people use the Eheim pumps which are extremely reliable.
I had one (I do not remeber the exact model, around 500GPH), it was noiser and ran a little hotter than the Eheim I currently use. Not a bad pump, but not great.
I have 3000 and 4000 that were used for a little over a year.
Both have had some start up issues. When that happens it is time for a vinegar bath and light scrubbing.
