0.1ppm PO4 will grow algae. It is PO4 limited at scant 0.03ppm.

sorry Tom, I posted it wrong it tested at 0.01 not 0.1. Guess I should have double checked before I posted.....

0.01ppm is great. Sometimes algae can consume it right off the rock if any leaches back or as soon as any organic phosphate breaks down to PO4 types before it gets to the the gfo. It may be that low because the algae is using it . if you keep it low the algae will quit sooner or later. Temperature spikes will cause every thing to go a little faster and might be a big part of the problem though.

well since I got the temp under control things have started to look better. I feel like an idiot since I didn't catch it earlier.. Just goes to show you when you get into a routine you can let things slip by.....
