I was just curious how i could rid the surface of my tanks water from looking scummy, i have an overflow box which takes it to the sump where the skimmer is, is there anything else i can do?

You have inadequate surface agitation. Get a couple powerheads running along the surface making it "ripple" (harder than a ripple tho) or agitate the surface. This will also help w/gas exchange, although your overflow should also be doing these things...but if its not, you may just have it set up wrong (is it HOB or built in?) hard to say tho.
