Water temp drop???

Long story short, I went to test my water and noticed my water temp dropped to 76. I looked at my apex history and my tank has not been above 78 since 12-28. I have the apex temp set between 78.5-79.5

I guess I have overlooked my temp since the 28th since it has always been in its normal range. I have two jagger heaters and they were both on. In fact they have been on since the 28th.

I put a normal temp thermonitor to see if the probe went bad, been in for 8 months. So far it has a prod same reading. Both heaters have white buildup covering the tube so I plan on cleaning them later this evening.

Any suggestions to trouble shoot or similar experiences? Thanks!

How big are your heaters? I would assume you need two 500 watt heaters for that tank of yours.

Both heaters are 200. A little under sized but for 8 months have worked. My graph has always had nice rise and falls-consistent. Maybe they have failed be jade they were undersized ???

I'm not sure, do they still get hot?

Yes, I took one out and it was hot

Has the temperature in your house changed? A cooler house would make it tougher for the heaters to keep up.

I don't believe so. It has been 69 for most of the month. I'll raise my house temp to 72 and see if that helps

Fixed the issue

I cleaned the build up on both heaters but I don't think that was the issue.............

While I was cleaning the heaters it dawned on me, the apex simply turns the outlets on and off and while on the heaters are on. Well the Jagger's were both set at 78 ish degrees there for the jagger heater turned its self off while the apex showed the outlet on. I turned the monitor on both heaters to 90 and the tank temp has been climbing

Such a simple solution lol

I would set one of the heaters to 80, that way in a single failure, only half of the detriment would affect the tank.
