Water temp to low

Does anyone have any suggestions,I just put in a refugium and now my water temp wont go above71.4.I have checked my digital thermometer with two others and all read within .02 of each other.I also use 2 jager heaters so if one malfunctions I dont over heat the tank.

Also if any one has any micro algae I can buy or get for my new refugium would be great.

Hey Dave, in regards to heaters sounds like you may need to move up to a higher wattage bracket due to your new found water volume and these cold temps lately.

As far as macro algae I have a small handfull I could give you to start it up. But if your looking for a sandwich bag or two yourreef in roseville's open today I think and usually has chaetomorpha (which is what I got) and they sell it for a very reasonable price.

Hey Dave, where are the heaters located? Try one in the sump. is the temp in sump and tank the same?

What watt heaters do you have?

I take this is for your 75g tank.

what type of pumps are you running into the tank. Maybe you dont have enough flow.

I too was having issues with keeping the tanks' temp constant, but simply not being able to raise it over a certain point sounds like the wattage on the heater may be too low for the size tank like Justin suggested and/or there is a malfunction in the temp gauge on the heaters you use. Do you have them both set to max temp and still no raise in temperature? I made the mistake of setting the little dial on the heater to the temp I wanted the tank, just to find out the temperature was nowhere near the mark (even with a high wattage heater). Through trial and error I literally have to keep my dial on my heater about 85 and it keeps the tank around 78 (most of the time).

Running a Quiet One 4000 with a 3ft lift to Squid.The tank has very good flow,I did go out and get a new 250 watt heater todat and the temp is starting to come up.
