Water testing kit

1. What do you all suggest for a water testing kit to buy? What brand of kit is generally good to go with?

2. I have an all live reef tank so do I need to get a testing kit that is "reef" specific or one of the ones that is just titled "salt water"? Or does it not matter?

I would get Calcium, Mag, DKH, Ammo, nitrate, nitrite, and a pH meter to start. I like my red sea kits. You may also want to get a phosphate kit

For your basic stuff, (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, & pH) the API test kits are fine. For crucial things like calcium, magnesium, & alkalinity, the Salifert or Red Sea test kits seem to be pretty popular.

Thanks for the info. One of my buddies told me that he has had trouble with the API testing kits and sometimes they aren't completely accurate. Have you all noticed any issues with API kits if you have them or have they been working alright for you?

Didn't see that you said API kits are fine before I posted hah. So you havent had any issues with API or anything?
