Hello to you all
Thank you for all your help you gave me on my last post ,I was just wondering if there is any thing that I should be testing my water for on a regular bases, I test my PH leave every 4 weeks but is there any thing eals.
I have a thermoniter and sellynity tester in the tank ,it is just that in the last few days I have notice that green stuff is growing on my rock and the Crushd Coarl ,is there some thing wrong or is is normal and if not how do I clean it up that

best thing to do when you notice something out of the ordinary is to do a water change. testing the tank all the time is not really needed and i hardly ever test mine. just make sure to do water changes and get into the habbit of it. if you want to test your tank i would say the main things to test for are PH, Calcium and magnisuim. those are the 3 main ingredients in the ocean and the next would be nitrates as inverts do not like high nitrates and will die off quickly if they spike.

I like having the ability to test for 1)pH 2)ammonia 3)nitrites 4)nitrates and 5) Phosphate. I agree testing the tank all the time is not necessary. But I like to spot check things if I suspect something is going on. For instance your mantis closes up for 2 weeks and you are wondering if he is or if he's not. A high ammonia spike would indicate he isn't, while a low ammonia spike might indicate a molt. I also believe in having a good refractometer and check for S.G. before and after every water change. That's my 2 cents worth.
