i just put rock in my nano 2 weeks ago and everything as fine until 2day came home and thetank is very cloudy an smelly how can i make this better ????

i know when i just set my AP up the water was pretty smelly for a while and my levels were threw the roof. I didnt do any water changes and let the tank cycle and it went away on its own. I just added some chemi pure to the tank today i have heard great things about it. I would say its part of the cycle but im not sure

Purigen will help with the cloudy water. I use both it and Chemi-Pure but didn't add them until my cycle was over.

Give it another week....

how long have you used Purigen and is it easy to regenerate...also when using the both Purigen and Chemi-Pure together does the purigen have an extended life? Just thought i would ask,

I started with Chemi-Pure, started using Purigen about 3 months in and I couldn't imagine being without, major water clarity difference. You have to bleach it to regenerate it. I don't bother with that, I just get the 3 pack on sale at Dr. Foster & Smith and swap out at the same time as the Chemi-Pure. I figure I'll try that regeneration thing on all 3 at the same time.

Right now I have:

Chamber 1 - Chemi-Pure on bottom, Filter Floss on top of that, Phosban on top of that.

Chamber 2 - Purigen

Chamber 3 - MaxiJet 1200

I'm thinking of switching the Purigen and Chemi-pure next time I add new product. Purigen works best with a decent flow going through it (like phosban).

I wouldn't start off using Purigen but as soon as you start getting fish and corals I would add it.

And to anser your second question :)

I haven't noticed an extended life on the Purigen when using it with Chemi-Pure but I haven't been looking either :)
I'll have to keep an eye on that.

ok sorry didnt mean to hijack your thread but one more question. i have the chemi-pure on the bottom of the first chamber on the AP does it need to be moved at all or do you think it will do ok there?

Not sure. I would think Petco would have it before Petsmart since Petsmart doesn't really deal with saltwater fish as much.

I always stock up at Dr. Foster & Smith.
