Hey guys,

I have this pink BTA and it has grown a very nice green color to its base that goes to pink at the tips. Does this qualify as a watermelon BTA?

Thanks!

It's a rose BTA, I don't know all the goofy variations on that basic name. Whatever you call it, it looks perfectly healthy and beautiful.

OMG! Is this what its come to. Everybody has to have their own flavor of BTA? I hope the people who are buying named BTAs realize that the colors of the anemones will change based on conditions in the tank such as water quality and light. Plus most of these anemones are pretty common. All naming them does is raise the prices at the collector/wholesaler level. You realize those guys watch these forums too. I just saw about 500 "rainbow/sunburst/whatever" anemones at the wholesalers for between $20-$40 depending on size. Online stores pick them up, give them a name and all of a sudden they are $300. Next time around guess what the wholesalers do?

I never paid a premium for this, it was sold to me as a rose bubble tip anemone, it colored in with some nice green recently and I was curious if there was a species with this coloration, that's all.

BTAs of all colors are the same species. Different colors do not make them different animals like with some of our fish and corals. Think of BTA colors like cat colors. A pretty pattern does not make for a different breed.

It is considered to be a Rose Rainbow Anemone. They are pretty common, but they fetch about $60 - $120 Retail depending on size and the intensity of the colors. They are one of my favorite color types. HTH
