Waterproofing MDF

What would you use?

edit: I think I'm just going to skin with a nice plywood, but I was just wondering if it's even possible. Structurally the stand will be fine without an outer skin, but obviously a nice skin on the outside will help with stability long term. (moving it etc.)

This would depend on what you are using MDF for? My first thought would be to use a product like Hydroban

If you are just using it to skin I personally would not use the Hydroban type product because of the expense. A good paint job should work just fine in my opinion. Worst case scenario you would only be out the cost of the MDF if something bad happened as it is not structural.

use plywood not mdf.. and just paint with whatever.. mdf is not for external anything.. Its ugly unless you veneer it.

In the end I picked up some plywood, mdf isn't worth it.
