How often should the wave box pump be cleaned to prevent the 3am alarm clock from going off?

Follow the new stickied thread on cleaning as I have more detailed pics now thanks to Melev. If thoroughly cleaned the pump should go 3-9 months but it all comes down to water chemistry. If the calcium, KH, pH or magnesium is high you will be on the shorter end of that time span. If you maintain levels at about NSW the longer service life will apply.
