Wave box pump. No box?

rogergolf66

im an addict lol
Can I use the pump and no box and still get the wave results? If so any tips?

Roger

I have a shallow frag tank and the box is too tall :(

Yes and no, the box combines the displacement and the pulse, with only the pulse, you typically need two opposing pumps running in inverse mode. It may work, but the wave height will be greatly reduced and when a wave is much less than a 1/2" high, the water movement is likely less than you would get just running the pump in a continuous mode. The drawback there is it is likely to burn out the power supply unless you downsize the propeller.

Yes I tried with no box it didn't work. My sps frag tank is 72x30x12 and the box is to tall is why I am trying to do something to make it work. Can I cut 2 inches off the top of the box? What would happen then as far as wave quality.

Thx

Roger

I also need a new gasket seal for my Tunze silence 1073.040_a can I get that strait from u? If so send me a pm please on how to pay and price. I am running pump external on a calcium reactor. Works great for almost 2 years. Now it's leaking

A wavebox is about 12" tall, roughly 3/4" needs to stick out above the water so it can take in air, is it not possible to install it as intended? Even if an an inch was sticking out that should work.

Unfortunately with the euro brazing there is no way to get the box in with out putting it towards the middle of the tank I front of a 4in euro bracing.

How much do you have to cut off so it fits and has a little room to draw in air at the top?
