Full size wavebox or Nano wavebox? Did you buy it new or used, do you have a rough idea of age of the unit (I ask because I need to know what model drive unit it has)?

it is a full sized unit, I bought it used and it has a brown pump. the cord is getting stiff near the pump, so I suspect it is pretty old. I suspect that it is the pump moving around in the box

by the way, I just love my wave box... far and away the best flow I have ever seen

If it has the older drive unit with the white shaft and screwed on propeller, it is most likely that the drive unit is clicking, this unit used an O ring to dampen the brakes that would wear out over time. It could also be the blue sponge around the pump is missing or compressed, this would allow the pump to move and knock.

Yes, you can order a new drive unit as well, part 6200.70. I would check the cords for cracks. Cords can be made of only two materials for use in water, EPDM, which is used in ponds because it resists UV but is destroyed by Ozone, and PVC which has the opposite characteristics. Over time the PVC hardens from exposure to UV from lighting. It can become brittle and crack, it can also just get stiff and be fine for many years. I would just keep an eye on it, check it whenever you remove the wavebox for cracks or tears.

The link didn't work, but the motor is part 6260.015. That part is out of stock for a couple weeks.
