wave height concern

I have a 120 with a single overflow box in a corner. My water level is currently 1 inch from the bottom of the lip. With that in mind how much wave action should I expect on a 4ft tank with a wave box? Is that borderline spill over?

I would expect a wave of 3/4-1" but you can adjust it to a limited extent by reducing the pump power on the driver.

Sounds chancey but worth the risk, I guess I will have to find out for myself when I get the wave box. Oh by the way I have a friend that uses only one magnet for his wave box. I figure I will go the same route but use the stronger one since the glass is 1/2 thick.

One smaller one and a couple suction cups or 2 smaller ones would be the best, the issue is the rocking motion making the wavebox "walk" and a stronger magnet won't fix that.

alright so I found out for myself. Due to the size of my tank, a corner overflow box, and lots of rockwork I am only able to get maybe 1/2" wave. I have adjusted practically everything, and it truely comes down to a wave or no wave. If my sandbed cleans up a bit I'll keep it otherwise I'll get a stream instead. The wavebox is really cool but it may not be suitable for my tank.

First, make sure the screen is open end up on the Stream inside the box and that the foam isn't obstructing the intake, it should be on the pump portion and acts to reduce noise, it is not a filter and should not be on the intake. Second, make sure the screw holes are plugged in the back. Third, be sure the wave is tuned properly so that it crests on one end with the trough on the other, I think you can get more.

Well you were right about the foam...now the wave is 3/4". What was that you said about the screw holes on the pump? What would you use to plug them and why would it have any effect? Thanks for the pointers!

In the back of the wavebox where the rails attach are to threaded holes to brace the rails, just use the screws that were in the parts bag to fill them so water doesn't seep in through them. This can add up to 1/4" more.
