wave maker & FOWLER

I am setting up my 225 rr and am considering a wave maker. I plan on a FOWLER. Will the wave maker interfere with the fish, ie, too powerful of a flow for comfortable swimming? Also, I don't fully understand it's effect on corner overflows. I have one at each corner. Does one of the corners stop overflowing until the wave reverses, thus alternating corners that flow. Seems to me that if one of the two corners are not flowing properly, water exchange with the sump will be difficult at best. I'm confused. Please help before I spent that kind of money! :eek1:
Thanks

With corner overflows you have more noise and yes, one runs empty but generally the wave returns fast enough that it doesn't cause any big problems unless the flow rate through the overflow is extremely high. The best solution to both problems is to install durso pipes. The wave is pretty close to the flow they have in nature and the fish have no issues with it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am a still a bit confused. Can you explain why durso pipes would help.
Thanks

They help eliminate the splashing noise and stack up a bit of water in the overflows to serve as a reserve capacity for when the wave is going away.

Thanks Roger. One more question and I will leave you alone! Does it cause the substrate to blow around. I don't plan on a sugary substrate but about 1inch of a courser grade. Or, shall I plan on going bare bottom.
Thanks

Thanks Roger. So far I am impressed. I will be ordering mine very soon. I have a bit more plumbing to do first!
Thanks
