Wave Making over a grassbed.

I am working on a tank design with long bladed seagrass or macro. What I am trying to do is have a nice soothing back and forth flow to it like slow rollers over a grassbed at 4-5 foot depth. What is the best way to accomplish this?

I would like to go witha 4 foot tank length since that is the light system I currently have. A longer tank is possible with the sides covered so only the lit portion is visible thus hiding equipment on either end. Looking at at least a 120 gallon.

That said, what options do I have?
Wave makers to me seem far too frantic and definately do not have the effect I am wanting although I am by far not an expert on them and am only going by what I have seen on Youtube videos.

I have thought about powerful powerheads on either end of the tank run by a controller but do not know if that would be powerful enough and likely would blow the closer grass and the farther grass would just go up due to buoyancy.

Any other ideas or corrections?

Vortex mp40 x 2 would be what I would use. You can customize the length and strength of the pulses. That way you can get the exact flow pattern you are wanting. Long pulse with maybe both units on one side would most likely do it.

A couple of MP40's, possibly even MP10's, on pulse mode (long or short) could do the trick.

There's some videos on youtube of MP40s in pulse mode, check out what they do and see if that's what you're looking for. Most people use short pulse mode to get a standing wave inside the tank, but it may work for your puposes too.

I'd say try a tunze nano wavebox, it should do the job for the least investment compared to two mp-10s or an Mp-40.
