So its been 4 days since I've had my wavebox and i love this thing! however, i've been reading and rereading how they can break tanks, but i haven't actually read any post of anyone experiencing that yet.

i have a glass 4x2x2 tank and stand brand new, but i understand the stand is where it'll fail. I am a bit concerned because my stand only has 5 2x4's, 4 corners and center back, and the panels are all with 1/2 plywood, with center doors opening outwards in the front and an open back, pretty standard? i bought the tank and stand from my local fish store. should i be concerned? should i reinforce with more 2x4's? the tank and stand is leveled on hardwood floors and I have a concrete slab, so it's pretty solid. i guess i just need to know if the stand is strong enough to support the tank with the rockin' wavebox. am i just paranoid, because i've never seen anything sway like this wavebox before!!! thanks.

My tank is the same, I have an oceanic stand, very well built and strong. Unless your stand is obviously weak I wouldnt worry about it, The tank is what will eventualy weaken but at a very slow rate. what they say 3-8 % or some number like that. That is reduce the life of the tank by 3-8 percent. Enjoy the result and dont worry about the tank. The people that say they are not worth it are the ones who cant put the money forward for the product. If your like me in 10 years I will have a bigger stronger tank anyhow,

It does shorten tank life, I only know of one failure and the tank was very poorly made and filled and set up within a couple days of having been made. I generally agree with atcman, most people don't keep a tank long enough to see the effects and unless your tank is poorly made or the stand is poorly made or the installation has a torque (unlevel on the diagonal) it really shouldn't be an issue.

I am currently running 2 waveboxes in my 180 gal tank, and I love it. beside the large black boxes I don't have any problem with it.

The wave is about 2-2.5"
