The top has to be above the water line? How thick are the magnets? This is a inwall tank and there isn't much room. Are the magnets water proof? The tank has corner overflows and I can get into the overflow area but then the box would block part of the overflow box. Noise won't be a problem but if the magnet isn't water proof then I mite have to return it.
The magnets are waterproof. For the wavebox to work it has to be on the end of the tank with outlet aimed down the tanks length. It will not work otherwise. The magnet holders are about 5/8" thick. about 3/4" of the wavebox must be above the water line.
It is probably OK but it is not ideal, side overflows will be noisier and if the flow rate is high the overflow box will run dry when the wave is away. On a tank that long the wave could be as high as 2", you do lose a bit of waveheight with end overflows as they absorb some of the wave energy.
Noise isn't a problem, inwall. Both overflows are 1 1/2" and I've got about 1000-1200 gph for return. I only have about 1" from water line and top of tank.
I have a similar question, I have just ordered a single box for a tank (acrylic) that is 96 long, 48 wide. I have only about 3/4 head between the top of the water and the bottom of the acrylic. Will this work or will this just splas straight over the sides.
Hard to say, I am unsure that one box will be able to get any sort of wave going because the tank is very wide and you generally need one per 320gal. 3/4" is not really enough clearance though for the possible wave 2 boxes could produce but I am not sure one will do anything at all.
No, I have some tables I can use for rough approximations and some adjustment is possible but a long tank like that is going to allow a big wave- maybe even 1.5"!
We have no magnet holders at the moment for 1" material. You would need to drill the bracing and use the clamps.
