Wavebox in a glass tank?

Can I use a Wavebox Tunze in a glass tank???
some people told me that the tank could to be in risk and to become broken by the wave efect!
is this true??

tha tank is a 77"x 30"x 26" LXHXW
and the glass thickness is 12mm. (1/2 inch).

what do you think???

I have a wavebox in a all-glass 210 for about 2 years never had any problems.

Since acrylic tanks are almost non existant in Europe and the manual exclusively refers to glass that is pretty much what they were built for. The wave effect as any surge effect definitely weakens the seams and shortens tank life and it should not be used on an old, poorly supported or poorly built tank. The tank you describe sounds like it has quite thin glass for the depth of the water column. I would normally expect a 30" tall aquarium to have 3/4" glass, 5/8" at the least. I would not use a wavebox on that tank. In general, a wavebox reduces tank life 10-15%, figuring a well made, brand name aquarium should last 20 years you can expect 17-18 years from it. Realistically, most people do not keep a tank this long, innevitably the trim fades, the silicon is stained, the glass is scratched or it is just time to upgrade.
