Wavebox in corner

I read that the wavebox should be placed in the corner of the tank. However, the tank I want to put it in has all 4 corners viewable so that isn't an option. Can it not be positioned in the center, or off center of one side of the tank?

You can pretty much place the wavebox anywhere in the tank as you like as long as you meet the following requirements:

1. No obstruction by rock work

2. Enough distance from the wavebox to the side panel for the wave to develope (Min 48" for regular side wavebox)

Thanks, what counts as an obstruction by rockwork? Within 6" or some such?

Basically, I'm planning a 66x60x18 310g system, viewable from 3 sides. I would like to put the wavebox dead center in the back panel. Does this mean I wouldn't be able to have any rockwork in the center of the tank?

Also, can you tell just from the dimensions what size wave I'd get in this tank? I really would prefer no more than 1-1.5 inches.

You will need 1 wavebox and 1 extension to be able to get the wave going in that tank size . According to Tunze the rock work has to be at least 19" away. Even with 19" of space you will not get the same affect as those who has a clear path...

Ah I was worried you'd tell me I need an extension. I'm not sure I can justify that additional cost.

Thank you very much for your time though Jar*Head. I'll consider what you've told me.
