wavebox on a 8 ft tank

I am picking up a wavebox on sunday and I have a 8x2x2 240g acrylic tank.
couple of questions,
can I put it behind a large rock to hide it?
what setting should I start at on the controller?
is it a bad idea in a acrylic tank?

Yes hiding the Wavebox is okay, but the outlet should not be directly obstructed.
Every aquarium is different regards the setting its just a matter of very minor adjustment of the dial until you get the wave.
You will have no issues in an acrylic aquarium.
