wavebox question

I'm just getting into the Tunze craze, I am looking to use a wave box on my display but here is my question......The tank is an AGA viewed on both sides with the overflows built on the ends of the tank instead of the back. Am I going to be able to use the wave box with this type of setup?

I have the same question except my overflows are built into the back. What is the best placement for the Wavebox with this setup? I also have two 6100's with a 7095. Tank is a standard Oceanic 180.

Thank you
Tony

It will work but there will be noise and the wave is shorter as the wave spills over into the overflows. A centered back overflow is always the ideal. The wavebox always has to go on an end pane aimed down the length of the aquarium in such a way that obstructions to the output are nominal.

I don't have the same set up - but here is what I have done. My wavebox is on the back between my two overflows. You'll have to experiment a bit in the placement of the wavebox but where you do most of your testing is with the controller. You control the power and the pulse separately. The power really controls the height of the wave and the pulse is what you use to "sync" your wave. Now with my overflows I have my back drilled with 2" bulkheads (overkill but I wanted to take no chances). I have 90 elbows on those with which I adjust the level of water in my tank. I was lucky enough to get the setup right so that even with the wave at it's low point, the lip of the elbow was still under water - with a 2" mouth - the swell of the water was easily handled.

You both have much bigger tanks than I do - so you'll be able to obtain bigger waves. Plus my tank is cubed. Optimally you want to wavebox pointed down the longest stretch for your tank (it should be unobstructed - no rocks or anything to get in the way).

I would download the wavebox manual from Tunze's website - it has pretty good tips and placement factors in it. It's free to download - it's a PDF.

Good luck - I love my wavebox.

Oh yeah - I have it in a nano cube too. 20" x 20" x 12"
