wavebox question

Hello,
I am planning my new tank and want to know which is the optimal length for the "one wave"?
My planning tank dimmensions: 48x36x27(h).
I've seen the 36X36x24(h) tank with wavebox, but the frequency of the waves was too fast.

6ft or longer is really the ideal, I consider 4ft the minimum.

What is the effect when the length is decreased from 6ft to 5ft length?
Also I was looking at the instructions on line and it looked like the optimal position for an overflow box was in the middle. What is the effect to overflow boxes placed on the two ends of the aquarium?

The center is the fulcrum point of the wave so the water level is constant and this reduces noise, end overflow boxes absorb some of the wave energy as the wave spills in and they are noisy. The shorter the tank, the shorter and faster the wave.

Thank You for the reply. Based on waves on a reef, I'm assuming I would want a longer and slower wave cycle? Any experience with the wavebox characteristics in a bowfront, Is there a problem at the oppisite end of the aquarium, with the wave generation as the front to back dimension of the tank is decreasing due to the radius of the bow? I was wondering if it would generate too large of a wave height?

I ahve no first hand experience with the wavebox in bowfronts, 6ft plus tanks tend to be ideal.
