Wavebox vs stream for my tank

My tank is 72x24(deep)x30(high) allglass glass tank; SPS dominated. It currently has a 900gph pump to return water from the sump and a 3000g pump for a close loop. I'm thinking about taking down the close loop and installing the wavebox or stream. What are your recs? Would the tank be strong enough for the wavebox?
Also, I read in some other threads that you recommend using a wave box with a stream. What is the purpose of that?
Thanks!

Well, so the additional stream is to provide directional flow to move detritus to the overflow. But I already have the return pump to provide directional flow. Does that mean that I don't need the additional stream?

You would have to keep the closed loop unless you change over to Streams. The wavebox is not a flow solution, it is only an adjunct to existing flow. It creates a rocking motion but the water has no directional movement it moves side to side but stays in place. The reason to add this flow is it looks natural, it helps with suspension of detritus, it eliminates dead spots, the mild percussion of the waves will probably increase denitrification by keeping the rock cleaner and changing the forces, same with the sand bed, and it does create a flow that is quite large but it does not eliminate the need for a directional current.
