Hi everyone, I currently have a Redsea XL525. Tank is 108gallons with 31sump. when i first got the tank from my lfs they included regular hydro powerbeads. I am currently thinking about upgrading them to wave makers. My current choices are the Maxspect XF330,XF350, Vortech Mp10 and Mp40. Which brand would be better? I currently have Lps and soft corals in my tank. Would i need 2 wave makers on each side of the tank? Do they need to be the same gph or can i do a XF330 on one side and XF350 on the other? And should i be adding some powerbeads in the back wall of the tank also? if yes, suggestions for those will be appreciated also. Im am fairly new to the hobby. Any suggestions or opinions would really be appreciated. Thanks

I have the 330 duo with just one controller in my 85g 48" tank and it's plenty of flow!

I'm experimenting with placement, since I have a central overflow I placed the two gyres vertically on either side facing opposite directions, and run them on alternate flow. I think right now I have them at 50% max and it's good, although I will keep testing once I get things that require more current.

I have a 105 gallon bowfront wedge with one Gyre, works well to keep circulation going at all depths.

I have a pair of Maxspect 350s on my RSR 525XL, one each end. You can mix and match a 330 and a 350 on the same controller. I find the two Gyres are enough in my tank. These Gyres have attachments to concentrate flow so that along with the 4 adjustable heads means you can change flow around quite a lot. Plus you have the return in the middle.

My tank will be LPS and Softie dominant and at this point I don't think I'll need to add anything else for flow. If I do then it's always easy to drop in an MP10 or 40 where needed, perhaps along the back. I'll let mine evolve over time and change as needed as I go.

This tank is only 4 months old but I also have a 3YO RSR 250 that runs off a single Gyre and is going well.

I would do 2 330's in the back pointing outwards (as mine) because you won't see them and the flow is plenty. One controller and two pumps makes it not very expensive.

Maybe like Sk8r you can do 1 pump, but imo the bigger 350 would be better.

pertinenent info: my tank is a wedge bow, 36" deep x 36" wide 105 g, so I don't have much length to worry about.

I can’t afford the leading edge stuff.
In my 65g, I use two Jebao OW-25’s opposite each other, for my sweeping flow.
I use four Jebao SW-4 placed where I need extra flow, dead area or SPS.
I have always used many small ones, it’s easier for me to construct flow this way.
Running 36 months, and silent.

Thanks for all the advice. i had ordered one 350 so far and will be setting it up tomorrow. hopefully its enough flow. if not i will purchase an extra one and add it on.
