Way to hide cords and such?

Run the cords into an area not directly visible, such as behind the tank, the next step is imperative, never look in that area again!!!

It is frightening how many cords and wires we accumulate! In all seriousness though, here's what I did.

With my apex EB8 and other hardware that has wires running to and from it, I mounted them on my cabinet door. I paint a peice of wood white just smaller than the doorframe on my cabinet, then used some wood blocks to mount the wooden panel on the back of the door but raised up from it, so there's about and inch or so gap between the front panel and the door. Prior to all this I measured out where the hardware would fit on the front panel, and cut 1" slits that would be under and above each peice of hardware.

Once the hardware is mounted, run the cables into the slits and behind the front panel, this makes it look a lot cleaner. But then there is still a big bunch of cords that you have to deal with.

For me, I took any excess length for each cord and looped it around my hand, cable tied it to keep it in a loop, and placed behind the tank tank cabinet, whilst trying not to mix them all up, as one day you will need to access one of those cords individually.

Hope this helps

Im unsure what to call this thing. But I have a piece of plastic that spirals/curls... for lack of a better term. Its used to keep all your wires held together. I wrapped one around my lighting and the other around my pump wiring. This way it just looks like one big cord and keeps things nice and organized.

that is called wire loom"¦you had to be careful how many wires you put in it though as heat will become an issue.

you can also buy cable track"¦.which is essentially a conduit with a removable front cover"¦that you mount to the back or side of you cabinet.

I used to use zip ties and have all my stuff real nice, until you have to fix or rearrange something!!!! Now what I use is these rubber things, forget what they're called exactly but they are kinda like a pipe cleaner only rubber, much better

Cable duct. (Used to hide/organize network cabling). Looks like this

Before

After. Hard to see. But you'll get the idea

I had a plumbing fitting break and spray water around the bottom of the stand. Some salt water got on expensive electronic bits, which luckily survived.

However, it has led to my new plan to build a separate enclosure for electrical equipment and place it under the stand in lieu of laying out the equipment on the joists under the tank. An enclosure will also go a long way toward cleaning up the cords mess.

Heres my before and after,

Before:

After:

Still have a couple cords to feed in but didn't get that done before i left for afghanistan. Soon will be complete though.

Like this I just finished this part of my build.

I like that cable duck. The side of my stand looks like a science experiment gone wrong. Moving into a new house soon and I have a fish room built for it. That is going to be sweet. I will organize and control the cord there.

I actually ordered if off amazon, cut it to size then painted it black. This part of my stand is a dry compartment with only a small hole in the top corner for all the wires to run through. The duct is so easy to work with i can't believe its taken this long for me to actually get some of it.

Looks really good where did you get the cable duc ?

Not me cause if you look at my pics i have hard wired outlets above and below my stand. Those are what go back to my alex EB8's.

I can take some more pics if you want.

The stuff your looking for is made by panduit we sale it and it comes in diffrent colors and sizes.
