Wayne Shang's 720 G All SPS Tank !!

Lunch,

Don't know how he does get the European equipment. He must have a lot of ties in the industry.

TLC, I don't have the details on the UFO lighting other than I know that it is not sold in the US.

Just for the record he has 7 250 watt double ended HQIs on 2 fixtures with supplemental atinics integrated into the fixtures along with 2 1000w 20K radium fixtures in the middle. The color mixture is perfect.

The anthias school makes it all worth it.:D This tank is one of the best I have ever seen.

IMO, if you have a tank and equipment like that, you're allowed to use cinder blocks for a stand!

The colors are absolutely amazing. You wouldn't even think that his tank looked that great. His site doesn't not do the tank justice. Tubs also has a great tank!!! and his site is one of the best on the web. Hey! I've got it! Tubs go to Wang's (with the 995 of course), take a bunch of pics and redesign Wang's site. His tank is amazing!!!

That has got to be the biggest baddest (good thing) clam I have ever seen. Holy crap batman. Awe some tank.

Can you supply some more details about the giant, giant, gaint clam?

Thanks

God dang it...everytime I think I'm getting somewhere someone carts out some tank like this....all I can say is someone is going to pay...and I don't care who.

:D

Time for some new wallpaper on my computer I guess.

Wayne spoke at last month's SEABAY meeting, and I think he said that he purchased the UFO lights in Germany while he was traveling. Gorgeous tank, but his monthly electric bill is almost $1 per gallon.

Nardis,

Definately I'd like to come back over there with my own camera and as I was leaving I had asked if he'd like to be featured on SEABay which hopefully will segway into another visit. I'd like to give his tank though another year to stabilize and mature a little more.

BCReefer,

Sorry don't have any details on the gigas but I'm sure someone else. I wonder if it fit through the openings on the older tank when he had to move the darn thing.

I really like the UFOs because they use T8 atinics running the length of the fixtures rather than just 2 PCs in the middle. The atinics are also on the winged ends of which the angles can be adjusted.

LOL Anthony. I have about 400 plus of water so that tells ya my bill :eek1: . That's a pretty good measure I guess of running an SPS tank in Cali.

I'm still amazed with the protein skimmer. The darn thing had wipers in the skimmer column. Flip a switch and all that gooey gunk is wiped off. Flip another switch and the collection cup is washed by 4 spray nozzels. You don't have to open the skimmer up at anytime for routine maintenance. That is a big plus - tThe engineering is wonderful. Hopefully the US manufacturers are willing to open up and come up with creative solutions like that.

Correction
the lighting wayne uses is 4 250 DE 10k(front), 2 1000 20k radiums (middle) and 3 400 10k(back).
sorry john, just had to correct u on that :D
Waynes tank is one to be seen and the pictures dont do it justice.

I can't seem to get any of the slideshows to work on his site. Anyone else having this problem?

It says I need Realplayer5, which I don't want to get because it's only a 14 day trial before they start charging me--too much hassle. I download the slideshow and try to play it, but my MusicMatch jukebox pops up. What's the deal?

Hey John or Alex,

I notice that Wayne has two Tunze external (2002 & 2004 I think) pumps for circulation. Do you know if he's running them without the intake screens or if he shortened the intake screens? I run those pumps and I hate the long intake screens that I don't see in that shot! Thanks.

Thanks Alex. Those were SE bulbs in the fixture in the back. The fixture is much like those Aquaspacelights.

Kelly, I can't recall although Alex may.
