My firefish jumped when I was moving some rock around didnt notice for a minute I scooped him up and tossed him in and swam upside down then righted up and went to the corner stayed there for a while still breathin heavy I left him for a while then try to see if he would move and he did under a rock whats the chances he survives........Or will he die under a rock in the middle of the night and how bad will this effect my 29 gal with about 7 gal sump give or take will I wake up to a mess if he dies or will the crabs clean him up ????????

He might be seeking refuge under a rock to lower the stress level and recoup. If you have a good CUC they will devour him if he dies. but in a 29 gallon I might not risk the chance of amm. How long was he out of the tank?

not quite sure he swam when I threw him in but he has moved aliitle more but he doesnt look to good and Im about to turn out the lights sooo thats why im torn Im hoping its not just nerves

This is a really hard situation to asess (Spelling?). Anyways, I would just wait it out. Make sure to note his location the best you can so if he does die you may have a chance of getting him out. Good luck

well its been an hour and a little longer would he have died already or just be laying low with brain damage I mean hes moving a bit but mainly stayin in the back towards the corner but changing direction that hes facing, that must be a good sign no????

well he looks good spike is swimming not just bobbing and twitchin anymore wish me luck in the fact that I left him in hopes not to wake up to an ammonia spike in the tank

He's most likely just freaked out & laying low to lower his stress level. Think of how you would do if you were used to breathing air & all of a sudden you were breathing water.

What are your choices ?????

1 - leave him alone & check on him in the morning to see if he is dead.

2 - take him out now....and make sure he's dead.

I would just let him be......he should be fine.......good luck

Well No sign of him all day and well it doesnt look good the odd thing is I tested and no amonia I cant imagine he is still hiding but maybe is it possible that if he died that the natural filtration took care of it and nothing was effected I mean its a 29 nano w/ like 7 gal sump ?????????? I do have one hell of a mean gang of zebra crabs 3 and they are beasts If I dont corall them when I feed corals well You can imagin
Any thoughts on this ??????????????????????????

It’s possible that if he's dead all you will find is a skeleton and no spike in amm. That happened to a fish of mine... I couldn't find him for days and then all of a sudden there was his skeleton. No problems in params either
