We have baby mollies

So I went to check on the frag tank today and I found 16 new additions to the frag tank I put some food in the the tank and they all eat.

I acclimated freshwater mollies to saltwater and 1 was already pregnant and she gave birth yesterday.

I know she did not look very big yet so I figured she was not ready yet. They are a good size for 1 day old

I was going to say they look huge! Judging from the egg crate, they seem to be almost 1/2 inch.

Yeah they are about half and inch I am gonna get rid of all but one female this batch was not from my male so rather then buy a another female I'll keep one but the rest will need to go. I'll try and get them to start eating algae

If all goes well they should be ready by the meeting and I'll bring them then that way if anyone else wants some they can I have not checked today their might be more.

So went in to check on them and they are already nipping the live rock and and the frag plugs the only thing they won't eat is the bryopsis which nothing does

I've heard some guppies can do this as well. I have some breather bags if you want some to bring them to the meet in. Don't have to worry about o2 with these bags. Used them to ship fry all the time

Yep. Mollies really aren't fresh water. They are naturally found in brackish water. Most don't do well in the typical FW tank.

As Robert has shown they can be adapted to reef levels of SW.

That's super cool.. What was your acclimation procedure? I've read some people doing it over the course of a few days and others just doing hours like we drip fish for acclimation.. Yesterday I saw some dalmatian ones that I think would look good in my frag tank ..

I dripped over the course of 6 hours and they did fine I don't feel you need to drip for days.

Right on thanks. I kinda thought the same thing thinking days for acclimation is a little bit overboard.. Think I'm going to get 3 or 4 for the 60g..
