We need volunteers...

Attention all good people of MTRC...

We need volunteers to help move the beast of a 270 out of Angela's basement to our house on Saturday, April 26th. This means starting the trip in Spring Hill and ending in Ashland City. There will be carpooling involved for sure, so post and we'll figure all of that out between who will be involved - I know Wayne said he'll have room for up to 8 in his vehicle. We're hoping to have at least 8 guys as this tank was a struggle for 6 when Angela moved it into her place.

We're not positive on a time yet - as soon as we know, we'll get it posted. I'm thinking we'll likely end up at Angela's around 11 to start the show?? We need to make sure we have (at minimum) at least 6 people to make this happen, so please let us know how likely you are to be able to help if you're not positive you'll be there. If you can only make it to one of the houses, that's fine too, we can always use the help - however the free tasty bits will only be in Ashland City :) Speaking of free tasty bits, there will be beer and beverages and either pizza or sandwiches at the end of the yellow brick road for those that donate their time to our insane project.

Thanks in advance for any and all help on this.

And for the peanut gallery, please keep any and all comments about our questionable sanity to a small rumble... We know we're crazy, we've simply embraced it!

If someone from Murfreesboro is going, I should be able to come. We're broke so I don't have the extra gas money :) but I'd be more than willing to help! Wayne? Norman? Shane? Anyone from the 'Boro going?

Also, any chance of some homemade RootBeer? :D

i would have loved to help moriah... but i wont be able to meet up in time....our soccer league games are on saturdays...and usually ends after 1..........good luck with the move though!

Brandon - Wayne's trailer is the transport vehicle, so you should have a ride from the 'boro. On the rootbeer... we don't have any right now. If I can muster the motivation tomorrow night amongst the preparations we are trying to make, we might be able to whip some up and hope that it is actually carbonated by then (which is probably pushing it, but I'll just crank up the pressure and shake the devil out of it). If not, I'll gladly purchase some A&W, Stewarts, MUG, or whatever other rootbeer you might enjoy if its a condition of your helping :)

John - Thanks, we know this is pretty short notice anyway, but weekends are starting to get packed for peeps as the summer draws near...

I'm just glad we don't have to take our 90 gallon down to get the clearance to move this thing into our house.

Also, because doors and our hallway would be hard to navigate, I made a cart for hauling this thing. So hopefully it is just a matter of lifting it off the stand onto the cart, steering it to the car, lifting it off the cart onto the trailer...driving...back off the trailer onto the cart, and back off the cart onto the stand. Meaning, if all goes as planned, we won't need to actually carry this thing more than a few feet.

If the cart works well, I'm more than happy to loan it out for anything that will fit within a 7' x 2' tank footprint...would just need to line the deck with a piece of plywood first.

Very cool, man... I'll give Wayne a call then.

No big deal on the rootbeer, man. Save it for next time. :) I appreciate it, though!

And good idea on the cart!

Moriah, I will not know till friday if I can come or not. Big doings at the chruch Saturday and I may have to be there since I'm employed there also:) If I can, I'll ride with Wayne and Brandon.

Norman

I will have room for 5 total with the PU so if we need to pick anyone up on the way we can or meet us in the boro and see the new stuff I got :)

I should be able to help. I have to check with the wife to make sure, but I'm pretty sure that we don't have anything going on then.

DANG IT....

I would love to come help you guys move that tank, but this stupid Inner Ear Infection has had me sitting or laying on my couch for over a week now. If I knew I would be better by Saturday I would, but the Doc is just saying, "I don't know. Could be another week, could be a month."

270!!!!! WOW!!!!!

I can't wait till our move in a couple of years.

With my broken bones I will not be able to help as I'm still recovering. That's awesome you guys are getting that tank, though. Very nice tank + stand :)

Wayne- I was thinking around 11:00 since I figured that would easily get us back to our place and unloaded by about dinner time. If a little bit later would help get volunteers or is better for everyone involved, I'm certainly willing to do it earlier or to push it off until after lunchtime...12:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00? Please post your preferences. As long as we can load and unload with daylight, I couldn't really care less.

Looks like we've got:
Brian
Moriah
Wayne (room for 4 from the 'boro)
Brandon (with Wayne)
Chris (tentative)
Norman (possibly)
Rick (possibly)

I can also probably strong arm a couple of friends into helping, but I'd rather have people that kind of know what they're doing.

If you're thinking about volunteering remember that there might even be some frags in it for you... that's right, I'm not above bribes.

Well, I for one "kind of" know what I'm doing. :D

BTW, two more posts and your count will be "1234".

No nerd comments necessary, Moriah. :p

And looking at your post count Brandon... I'd have to guess that you spend 40 hours a week on RC... since you've racked up more than double me in less time.

One more post now...

I can maybe get a few neighbors down here to help out on this end. Also I have a lot of green with purple rim cap if anyone who comes wants some. That stuff breaks up so bad when you are trying to move it. Any time durring the day is fine with me also.

Nah... closer to 35 hours. ;)

Brian just let me know what time and I can run up the road to help move into your house. If you want me cell number just pm me. Where are you putting that huge tank?????

Chris - Thanks for the offer. I think I have your number. We're putting it on the wall opposite of the 90. It'll actually be slightly comical. I told the maintenance guy here that we were going to need to back up on the lawn to the back door and told him about the fish tank. He said, "Don't y'all already have 2 BIG fish tanks." I think they come over to our place to change the air filters just so that they can have a look...

BTW, that's 1234...

Thats hilarious! Same thing here.

We were home last time they changed the filters and the lady said "Yeah, I love lookin' at yur tank everytime I change the filters. But I wasn't sure if it was real or not!" I told her as long as she didn't put anything in the tank she was more than welcome to look. :D It was pretty funny... and a little scary at the same time. :)

I would suggest you rent a couple of the suction cup type grips to help carry the tank maybe even 4 of them. They cany be that expensive to rent for a day. Its heavy as hell & theres really no good way to get a grip on it. I know how heavy my 180 was & the suction cup things are the way Glasscages loads them. Just my 2 cents.
