Web Cam

I just set up my web cam axis M5014 on my 72gallon bowfront. I haven't decided if I am going to keep it or get something better. It's actually great because of how small the dome is but because of my low drop ceiling in front of the tank and my canopy I am unable to see the very top part of my tank. Anyways I think this is probably the camera I'm going to keep. It's 720p hd and has ptz (pan tilt zoom).

I set up a guest viewer but I'm not sure yet if I want to post the IP address here in case I get flooded with viewers lol. So if you want to see it just PM me and I'll send you the IP and guest username password.
Also if its after 3pm Est the metal halides will be on so it might be bright in the tank and if my LEDs or blue power compacts are only on , the tank will be very blue :) so it's not a great picture.
Anyways pm if you want to see it. Lastly I have a superfeeder with pellets in it so I can watch them eat :)

Wow this is sick. How'd you do it? I have a fully hooked up Apex do I just need a camera? How'd you plug it into the Apex? Lol as you can tell I wanna hook up one my self now. I travel a lot ad it would be awesome to check in on my fish with a PTZ camera

Do NOT plug a webcam or anything USB into the Apex.

When the new GUI web pages for the Apex come out, you will be able to embed the video stream from *some* network cameras right in the Apex status web page, but you can't do this yet.

I bought an IP camera and mounted it on the ceiling in front of my tank. It was all pretty easy and axis has an app that let's you view it on your iPhone iPad. You can also go to the IP address followed by the port and then log in. The camera I bought is wired not wireless and it has power over Ethernet which allows it to receive power from a switch thru the Ethernet cable. Nothing is plugged into my apex.

If you want to check it out here's my IP address

Did anyone get a chance to checkout my webcam?? If not and you feel like it another time just pm me and I'll pm you the new username and password..
I'm going to disable this one after tonight cause I don't want to get caught on a step ladder with my hands in the tank in my boxers lol

this is awesome!! i need to stay away from these forums though, i always end up finding new things that i "need" to buy (hence the reason I'm even in the neptune forum to begin with!)

I bought a pair of D-Link 930L's. They are wired and wireless and relatively cheap. Video quality is not awesome but good enough for me. They are small enough to mount easily. I have one mounted right next to the tank (2 inches from the glass) looks like you are in the tank! Pretty cool. The other I have mounted in the cabinet below looking at the sump (to see levels). This was before I bought an Apex and have all kinds of alerting setup.
